The top construction hazards include falls from heights, struck-by accidents, electrocution, and caught-in/between incidents. To prevent these, implement OSHA-compliant fall protection, proper PPE (personal protective equipment), hazard communication, and safety training programs.
According to OSHA safety standards, workers should receive job site safety training during onboarding, followed by regular refresher courses on hazard communication, fall protection, equipment operation, and emergency response plans.
Construction site supervisors, project managers, and safety officers must enforce OSHA construction safety regulations. However, all employees should participate in workplace safety compliance, risk assessments, and job hazard analysis (JHA) to maintain a safe work environment.
Required personal protective equipment (PPE) includes hard hats, high-visibility vests, steel-toe boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators (for hazardous materials), and gloves. Proper PPE compliance reduces the risk of construction site injuries.
Employees should report workplace safety violations to site supervisors, safety officers, or compliance managers. If hazards persist, workers can file a complaint with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) to ensure compliance with construction site safety laws.
